The pipeline, 85 km long, and of diameter 70-54- 48 in., is designed for an annual volume of 140 million cu.m, expected to be attained by the end of the century.

The wastewater originates from Tel Aviv and seven smaller adjoining cities, with a total projected year 2000 population of 1.6 million.

The scheme is estimated to cost about US$ 50 million. An additional investment of about US$ 50 million will be needed for seasonal storage facilities, complementary treatment systems and distribution networks.
