Since its establishment, TAHAL has been responsible for conserving Israel's water resources, which cannot by any account suffice to irrigate all its arable lands, as well as meet its potable and industrial water supply needs.
Over the years, it has succeeded in developing over 95% of the country's renewable water resources, and has in particular placed special emphasis on groundwater development. Indeed, TAHAL is considered by international development agencies as a world authority in the formulation and field application of strategies and techniques for irrigation-based agricultural development using groundwater. In many cases, the company has been responsible for all aspects of well drilling and groundwater exploitation programs.
TAHAL has also gained extensive experience in the analysis of legal and institutional aspects of water resources development in various parts of the world.
